I’m Ben: husband of an amazing, fearless woman, caretaker of a freak dog, and proud father of two of the coolest kids to have graced the Earth. Kids who remind me daily that life is just too short for all the nonsense that we adults get hung up on — kids who have taught me more about the nature of love than I can ever put into words. They are my muses, my inspiration, my test subjects … in short, they give their daddy plenty of “authentic” material to work with. In fact, they’re so cool they get their own gallery.
Ever since my mom turned our bathroom into a darkroom for a week, I’ve been drawn to the realness of photography over other art forms (for an artist who can’t draw worth a hoot, it works out best this way). Photography has the power to tell a deep story that celebrates the nuance and subtlety of people and of life. That’s the key ingredient of Authentic Photography. It’s not a catchy marketing tag line, it’s my approach to every shoot — to create images that capture the honesty and wonder of every family and child.
